affordable housing in the heart of Manhattan
|
Why Menno House matters
For 50 years, Menno House has provided affordable, community housing in one of the world's most expensive cities--New York.
Menno House is home to students, interns, and social service workers employed by organizations as diverse as the Lower East Side Harm Reduction Center, the Bowery Mission Womens Center and the United Nations.
Residents can thrive in a supportive environment, and many non-profit organizations benefit from the work of talented, conscientious employees who otherwise may not be able to live in New York.
One of our former volunteers wrote, "Without Menno House, I would not have been able to live in New York, and would not have had the chance to work at the Harm Reduction Center, which is without a doubt the best job I have ever had."
Another former resident said, "Here, for perhaps the first time in my life, I feel free to be both an analytical and free-thinking young individual and artist, as well as a faithful and sincere Mennonite Christian."
Menno House runs on a shoestring budget. At present, we are trying to retire our mortgage, and are within $60,000 of success! Will you help us settle this debt for good?
You can make a donation here by credit card, or send a check marked "Donation" to the address below. Menno House is a ministry of Manhattan Mennonite Fellowship, a federally recognized non-profit organization. We'll send you a receipt for your taxes.
Thank you! Menno House 314 East 19th Street, New York NY 10003
